RN - Quality/RISK/Patient Safety Coordinator


**Providence is calling a RN - Quality/RISK/Patient Safety Coordinator to Providence Kodiak Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full time position.**

**In this position you will:**

+ Promote a strong patient safety culture via assessments, staff education, and modeling a non-punitive approach to mistakes and accidents.

+ Oversee the UOR process for PKIMC.

+ Work locally and in collaboration with Alaska Region Risk office to handle administration of subpoenas, coordinate Risk Management requests for assist with Risk Management insurance responsibilities.

+ Provide education to a diverse set of staff.

+ Conduct thorough review of patient records for investigation of serious safety events and near miss events.

+ Consult with and advises executive leadership, leaders, physicians, departments, and committees on matters pertaining to risk prevention, patient safety, and process improvement.


**Required qualifications for this position include:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

+ Evidence of ongoing personal professional growth and education

+ Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska

+ Must maintain current licensure in a clinical healthcare field

+ 5 years of healthcare related experience in a position requiring contact with various departments and demonstrating leadership experience (2 of the 5 years must be clinical/patient facing experience)

+ Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with patient safety analysis techniques

+ Knowledge of root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis, failure mode and effects analysis and proactive risk assessment as applied to the healthcare setting

+ Able to read, hear, write legibly, and speak English.proficient at typing and have a basic understanding of Excel and Microsoft Outlook

**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**

+ Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)

+ Certification as Healthcare Quality Professional (CPHQ) or Certified Professional Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) or able to obtain within 3 years of hire

**About Kodiak Island Medical Center**

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC's long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
