Description

Kodiak Island has spectacular scenic beauty, is a sportsman's paradise, and offers numerous fishing, hunting, and recreational activities. KEA is a progressive and innovative stand-alone generation, transmission, and distribution electric cooperative located on Kodiak Island in the Gulf of Alaska, 252 air miles southwest of Anchorage, serving approximately 6,000 meters. The cooperative is recognized as an industry leader in implementing sustainable, renewable energy solutions with environmental stewardship, and 98.3% of our 2017 generation portfolio came from renewable resources. KEA owns, operates, and maintains a hydroelectric facility, a cutting edge wind farm with a battery bank integrating hydro and wind resources as an integrated renewable generation system, four diesel generator power plants, six substations, and 348 miles of distribution lines.


This position is responsible for electrical engineering efforts primarily for the transmission and distribution parts of the system, but will be involved in supporting all electrical engineering aspects for the cooperative. Will ensure that our renewable powered electrical system meets the present and future requirements, and is rendering safe, efficient, and dependable service to member-owners at the lowest possible cost, in accordance with established objectives, policies, and plans.

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in power systems from an ABET accredited curriculum. Work experience utilizing practical application of skills with renewable energy systems or a distribution/transmission utility or related organization is preferred.
